HALDANE MARTIN’S HULA LOUNGE CHAIR

Celebrated furniture and interior designer Haldane Martin’s Hula Lounge Chair will have South Africans reminiscing about the retro metal patio furniture that was so ubiquitous in homes throughout the ’80s and ’90s. Its design pays homage to the classic Salterini Hoop Chairs of the 1950s. It forms part of the new indoor-outdoor Hula Collection that features hula hoop-like circular rings and wire “stripes”. The lounge and dining chairs can be stacked and are ergonomically shaped for comfort.The rust-proof stainless steel frames can be powder-coated in 12 vibrant colourways and have the option of UV-protected fabric cushions in complementary hues.In addition to the Hula Collection,which also features bar and kitchen stools, the studio launched the Plat-O – designed to mirror Table Mountain’s plateau – and Neo-Spoke Lounge collections, as well as additions to the Sim-Ply Chair Collection. haldanemartin.co.za

@HOME X PRET-A-POT COLLAB // HAND-CRAFTED HOMEWARE

Prêt-à-Pot has developed an exclusive range of hand-crafted ceramics for @home. The simple, functional forms are inspired by nature and designed to evoke the rawness of the African landscape. Made from three different types of locally sourced clay, each piece will pass through at least six artisans’ hands before being ready for the kiln, a process that introduces one-of-a-kind nuances to each piece. The range, which includes salt pots, vases, candle jars and planters, evolves with the seasons introducing new colours and shapes and will be available online and in-store. home.co.za

ESPADRIL X LUCIE DE MOYENCOURT COLLAB // WALK OF ART

Cape Town-based manufacturers of Spanish-style espadrilles, Espadril, have collaborated with artist Lucie de Moyencourt on a pair called LucieShellShoes. The style is inspired by the espadrilles that both Picasso and Dali used to wear and features fabric painted with Lucie’s shell artwork from her Shell We Dance exhibition. The esparto rope soles are made in Spain and imported to SA. Here the shoes, which can be customised on the site or in- store, are handmade by local artisans in the same way espadrilles have been made for hundreds of years, merging Spanish tradition with African craftsmanship and, in the case of this collab, local art, too. espadril.co.za

PIGCASSO X SWATCH COLLAB // SWINE ART

To mark the Chinese Year of the Pig, Swatch teamed up with South Africa’s very talented painting pig, Pigcasso. The swine artist, who was rescued from the slaughterhouse in 2016 and now resides at the Farm Sanctuary SA in Franschhoek, created her latest work on canvas using child-friendly paint. This was then translated into the watch design. The limited edition Art Special, Flying Pig by Ms Pigcasso, features a vivid green and blue strap and shades of pink and purple on the face. shop.swatch.com/en_za/
